About - Organization
Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) operates within the university’s Outreach and International Affairs Office of Engagement and is responsible for planning and implementing over 300 educational offerings a year. CPE collaborates with academic colleges, research centers, and administrative partners across the university to reach more than 20,000 students, professionals, and lifelong learners annually. Our experienced and professional team facilitates the reciprocal exchange of knowledge and experience among Virginia Tech thought leaders, university partners, adult professional learners, forward-thinking organizations, and key stakeholder communities to achieve strategic learning and competitiveness goals.
The efforts of CPE support the University Strategic Plan in a number of key areas including:
- The Life of the Mind - By inspiring creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking for the professional learner and contributing to the development of global citizens capable of competing in a networked world.
- E-learning and distance learning - By developing and supporting online courses/certificates in the noncredit environment.
- Organizational Efficiency and Flexibility - By providing tailored, responsive, and customer-focused finance, marketing, registration, and program planning services to academic, research, and administrative units.
- CPE contributes to growth of Virginia Tech’s Destination Areas by facilitating a connection with external audiences, logistical support to program with these audiences, and a rapid response ethos that can contribute to ongoing growth.
