Overview

This session will cover common language used when interacting with clients receiving mental health services and provide participants with alternative language that promotes a more trauma informed, recovery, and person-centered focus. Simple language changes have the potential to increase engagement, strengthen the relationship between provider and client, and promote hope, belief, and connection. 

Learning Objectives: 
1. Participants will understand trauma informed principles. 
2. Participants will learn language shifts they can use to support trauma informed services. 
3. Participants will discuss and explore the benefits of making these changes in their everyday interactions with clients.

A certificate awarding 1.5 contact hours of professional development will be issued to all participants who register, attend the entire session via Zoom and complete the evaluation form at the conclusion of the event.

Refund and Cancellation Policy: Refund requests must be received 14 calendar days prior to the program start date. A $30 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. Requests should be sent by email or by initiating a drop request through the student portal in our online registration system.
