Overview

This 90-minute workshop will review emerging substance use trends in the state of Virginia. Guidance will be shared for healthcare providers and other trusted adults in the lives of youth on how to talk to youth about substances with a focus on prevention messaging and how to educate both youth and adults about substance-related information.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe what works to support effective youth substance use prevention messaging.
  • Develop a logic-informed messaging strategy that aligns with your prevention goal and is developmentally appropriate for your intended audience.
  • Support adults and community messengers with best practice strategies to deliver effective prevention messaging.
