Please join us for a WEBINAR on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm to learn about Citizen Engagement in Local Government Finance.

What should citizen participation look like?

Ms. Leslie Beauregard, Assistant City Manager, City of Charlottesville and Mr. Anthony Romanello, Deputy County Manager, Henrico County will present the ways their respective localities have engaged citizens in the budget process.

Starting with the FY 2018 budget process, the City of Charlottesville began using a new community engagement tool called Balancing Act.  Leslie will discuss the City's use of this budget balancing tool, in addition to other engagement opportunities already in place, and how it has influenced the annual budget process during the past two cycles.

In November 2016, Henrico voters resoundingly approved bond referenda totaling $420 million.  Anthony will tell the story of Henrico’s community engagement efforts, which resulted in voter approval of schools, parks & recreation, fire, library, and road projects.
