On November 15 – 16, 2018, Merrick and Company will join with Virginia Tech to host the first in an envisioned series of highly informative, interactive workshops on integrated biorisk management at the Inn at Virginia Tech. This event will encompass both biosafety and biosecurity, with particular emphasis on the agriculture and food sectors. It will also introduce the new field of cyberbiosecurity, which Virginia Tech has created and is exploring for application to these domains. The first day will consist of keynotes and panels that address a variety of priority biosecurity, biosafety and biorisk topics.
The second day will consist of an interactive roundtable exercise which takes up threat and vulnerability assessment and analysis. Event participants will understand the priority concepts associated with threat-based biosecurity; the potential vulnerabilities associated with agricultural research and development; and the application of threat-based biosecurity as it relates to agricultural research and development facilities and activities. Future opportunities leveraging this particular workshop will also be discussed.
