This course is designed for managers and senior executives who will serve as lean leaders and function as the developer of coaches, the designer of systems that develop people, and the individuals who create organizational transformation. Course content will focus on how to plan and design a strategy of implementation and the messaging needed to communicate a clear vision and direction. Participants will discover ways to organize cross functional teams that put lean improvements into practice. 

The Implementing Lean Conference will be held at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center, situated in downtown Roanoke in the heart of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, just minutes from the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport. Built in 1882, the beautifully restored Tudor-style hotel is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Registration Fees: Registration includes breakfast and lunch both days, instruction, and materials. It does not include lodging.

$459 - Registration, per student, for companies sending 3 or more (enter company name at registration)

Learner Outcomes

  1. Understand and demonstrate essential principles and qualities necessary for effective leadership of a lean organization
  2. Propagate and model lean principles, values, and philosophies through action and dialogue

  3. Design lean planning and deployment mechanisms for strategy, plans, and messaging necessary to activate and align continuous improvement actions, to include establishing and communicating vision and direction and creating a lean culture

  4. Integrate learning and coaching into the organizational culture

  5. Guide the development of people, including education, training, and coaching

  6. Integrate lean methods of motivation, empowerment, and involvement into the organization’s culture

  7. Understand how to guide and support the assessment and training of people necessary to build the skills required of a lean culture

  8. Understand how to guide and support the development of continuous process improvement systems and the appropriate use of continuous improvement tools within an organization

  9. Understand how to integrate improvement systems with work systems

  10. Understand and guide the application of systematic PDCA problem-solving thinking through work habits and other methods, such as A3s

  11. Guide the design of measurement systems that drive the right behaviors toward continuous improvement culture

 

Notes

Refund and Cancellation Policy: Requests for refund will be honored when received fourteen calendar days prior to the program. A $75 administrative fee will be deducted for cancellations. However, another person may be substituted at any time for this program. In the unlikely event that this program is cancelled or postponed due to insufficient enrollments or unforeseen circumstances, the university will fully refund registration fees but cannot be held responsible for any other expenses, including cancellation or change charges assessed by airlines, hotels, travel agencies, or other organizations.
