Overview

This training will provide participants an overview of the helping professionals identity development as it relates to ethical decision making and implementation in a variety of settings and situations. Emphasis will be placed on common ethical decision-making models with peer-to-peer learning opportunities for implementation and practice. A review of ethical practice as it relates to the ACA, APA, NASW and NAADAC code of ethics will be reviewed for applicability for counselors, psychologists, social workers, and addiction treatment professionals. Finally, a review of organizational compliance-based ethics will be reviewed with opportunities for peer to peer and audience engagement. Special consideration given for ethical practice when working with minority, historically marginalized individuals as well as clients from diverse and multicultural backgrounds with a focus on equity and cultural competence.

Fee Information

Day One will cover:

  • Understanding the role of the professional and client in behavioral health.
  • Gain foundational knowledge on common standards of practice as it relates to laws, ethical codes, and regulations.
  • Become familiar with common ethical decision-making models used in behavioral health treatment.

Day Two will cover:

  • Identify enduring influences of historical marginalization on current practitioner interactions with marginalized populations.
  • Examine professional standards and the ethics of practitioners related to diversity issues.
  • Identify and analyze potential ethical dilemmas that threaten to re-traumatize marginalized populations.
