Overview

VDH sponsored registration – CME eligible – one day in person training and networking on best practices for creating ED Bridges to Treatment:  Buprenorphine As a Medical Bridge; Lessons Learned from Four Years of Quality Improvement Study; Meets DEA addiction training requirement to renew one's DEA registration:   focuses on Emergency Room initiation onto medical treatment for the opioid use disorder; Collaborative Models Showcased.  Program topics and content to include:

  • Why buprenorphine in the ED?
  • What is a peer and why is their support so powerful?
  • Treatment shoreline – long term recovery pathways, not the finish line
  • What impact is fentanyl wielding?
  • Expanding the Bridge model hospital-wide
  • Stigma Busters and culture shifting
  • Overdose Survivors As a Special High Risk Population
  • ASAM Assessments – Framework for Triaging to Appropriate Levels of Care
  • EMS/first responders/ED interface
  • Role of pharmacists - strengthening access to buprenorphine at the local drug store

Conference will be CME-based:  keynote speeches, networking via small group discussion, panels featuring subject matter experts, peers (Persons with Lived Experience); multisector participation encouraged; features ED providers at the experienced level and at the “early implementer phase”.
