Overview

Participants will have the foundational knowledge to apply for entry-level engineering and technician positions in the semiconductor packaging industry following the completion of the program.

Agenda/Schedule

The packaging certificate program will be 10 weeks and will include 20 sessions of online lectures, and 10 sessions of hands-on, in person lab training. The course consists of 5 modules.

  • Packaging components, materials, and processes
  • Electrical design
  • Thermal design
  • Reliability
  • Lab equipment operations, maintenance and repair

Each module will emphasize the trade-offs associated with different packaging technologies, based on electrical, thermal, and physical performance requirements, and will be accompanied by related virtual laboratory demonstrations.

 

Lab Option

Location option 1: Virginia Tech Research Center in Arlington, Virginia.

Lab Option 1: Thursdays 8am-12 pm

Lab Option 2: Thursdays 3pm-7pm

Location option 2: Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Virginia

Lab Option 1: Wednesdays 5pm-9pm

Refund and Cancellation Policy: Refund requests must be received 14 calendar days prior to the program start date. A $100 administrative fee will be deducted from all refunds. Requests should be sent by email or by initiating a drop request through the student portal in our online registration system. Please note: refunds will not be issued for no-shows or for cancellations received on or after the program start date. In the unlikely event that this program is cancelled or postponed due to insufficient enrollments or unforeseen circumstances, the university will fully refund registration fees but cannot be held responsible for any other expenses, including cancellation or change charges assessed by airlines, hotels, travel agencies, or other organizations.
