Virginia Tech, in association with the Virginia Tech School of Education, the Center for Organizational & Technological Advancement (COTA) and the Western Virginia Public Education Consortium (WVPEC), is pleased to present the 16th offering of the Recently Appointed Administrators program.

This program is taught in four cohort sessions and provides multiple, hands-on opportunities structured to hone and expand existing skills and to sharpen decision-making abilities for newly appointed school administrators. The major focus is to explore methods used to transcend challenges faced by educators working to demonstrate leadership effectiveness. Institute “fellows” identify and interact with a mentor coach, expand perspectives through cohort activities, and keep reflective journals. Participation broadens their understanding and application of actions necessary for school improvement.

Completion of a School Leaders Institute program will increase leadership capacity and enhance the ability to use reflection as a powerful leadership skill. Each participant submits an evaluation of workshop discussions, activities, and lectures and completes and submits a reflective journal synopsis based on their total program experience.
