Overview

In an constantly changing geopolitical landscape with new threats emerging, leaders of the future must be dynamic, possessing expertise that spans policy, law, and science. The Virginia Tech School of Public and International Affairs’ National Security Executive Leadership Program sets the bar for national security professional development, empowering people of all backgrounds through interdisciplinary training designed to bridge the gap between policy and technical knowledge and prepare them for critical leadership positions.

The National Security Executive Leadership Program is an intensive one-week, professional development program designed for professionals interested in national security, as well as Virginia Tech masters and Ph.D. students. The program will be offered from October 31 to November 4, 2022. Participants will gain a firm foundational knowledge of the U.S. national security apparatus, instruments of national power, the appropriations process, and crisis decision-making, as well as insight into key technical and global policy issues. The program curriculum centers on how the technical, philosophical, and policy aspects of national security connect, and will include participatory learning in the classroom and via a day-long simulation.
