Overview

The Office of Child and Family Services at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services has partnered with subject matter experts to provide technical assistance for school-based mental health programming, service provision, and direct services. 

September Series: The purpose of this two-part workshop is to provide k-12 teachers and staff with an understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact on student behavior and learning. Attendees will learn practical strategies to create a trauma-informed classroom and to support students who have lived-experiences with trauma. This series meets on Wednesdays, September 6 and 20, 2023 from 12-1:30. The program is set up for participants to attend BOTH of these sessions.

October Series: The purpose of this two-part workshop will focus on how mental health professionals can support students, families, and school personnel after a behavioral health hospitalization. Participants will be able to leave with the groundwork to an effective Hospital to School Transition Protocol to assist in school-wide communication and collaboration with youth, families and behavioral health providers. This series meets on Wednesday, October 4 and 18, 2023 from 12-1:30pm. The program is set up for participants to attend BOTH of these sessions.
