Overview

Virtual - Principles of Modeling, Toolpath Simulation, and Prototyping in 3D Printing; May 13, 20, and 27, 2025 Online 10am-12pm - Learn digital geometric modeling and prototyping techniques for 3D printing. This course covers 3D modeling for 3D printing, printer toolpath simulation, and generating computer numerical control (CNC) for printer operations. This course is designed as an entry-level way into the industry or as a refresher for any industry professional.

Virtual - Case study: 3D Concrete Printing for Affordable Housing; June 3, 10, and 17, 2025 Online 10am-12pm – HOUSING Explore the potential of 3D concrete printing (3DCP) in affordable housing through an in-depth case study. This course covers the design, construction, and operational aspects of a real-world 3DCPhousing project, highlighting key features, challenges, and lessons learned. By the end of this course, you will be able to map out the implementation of a 3DCP affordable housing project. This course is designed for people who have fundamental knowledge of 3D concrete printing or completed the 3DCP modules.

Virtual - Concrete Properties and Mix Design Fundamentals for 3DCP; June 24, July 8, 15, and 22, 2025 Online 10am-12pm - 3DCPExplore the fundamentals of concrete materials with a focus on 3D concrete printing (3DCP). This course covers cement hydration, fresh and hardened concrete properties, mix design procedures, and the role of admixtures and fiber reinforcement. Learn best practices for durability, quality control, and sustainable decision-making using life cycle analysis to minimize the carbon foot print of cement-based materials. This course is designed as an entry-level way into the industry or as are fresher for any industry professional.

Hybrid - 3D Concrete Printer Operations; July 8, 2025 10-12pm online and July 15, 16 and 17, 2025 8a-5p in-person in Blacksburg – OPERATIONS Gain hands-on experience with 3D concrete printer equipment, including robotic printers, mixers, and pumps. This course covers printer software, robot control, and operational procedures, emphasizing safety, cleaning, and maintenance protocols. Learn troubleshooting techniques and conduct test prints to refine operational skills. This course is designed for people who have a fundamental knowledge of 3D concrete printing or have completed the 3DCP modules.
